‘It’s chilling’: ASIO issues probable terror threat level

Deakin University Global Islamic Politics Chair Professor Greg Barton says ASIO is dealing with a “strange cocktail” of terror threats.

“Unfortunately, the most common elements are justification of violence and targeting, in particular, the Jewish communities,” Mr Barton told Sky News Australia.

“We are told that a number of attacks on synagogues in Australia were through the IRGC,” he said.

“That’s chilling.

“We are at a threat level of probable, which means there’s more than a 50 per cent chance over the next 12 months that somebody will try something.”
