How the weather can ‘make or break’ the NYE firework show
Sky News Weather Meteorologist Tamsin Green discusses how the weather can “make or break” the New Year’s Eve firework show.
“When it comes to fireworks, the weather is just as important as the pyrotechnics,” Ms Green said.
“Steady light winds are ideal because they help carry the smoke away, but winds that are too strong or gusty can blow fireworks off course, reduce visibility or even force cancellations.
“High humidity traps smoke close to the ground, making that colourful burst in the sky turn more hazy.
“Many local councils won’t go ahead unless [fire] conditions are safe.”
