China pursuing Taiwan aggressively given Trump’s position on Ukraine-Russia conflict

University of Otago’s Professor Robert Patman claims China has ramped up its pursuit of Taiwan given US President Donald Trump’s positions on the Ukraine-Russia conflict.

“The Chinese perception of Mr Trump is that he is a bit reckless on foreign policy,” Mr Patman told Sky News Australia.

“They have been closely watching Mr Trump’s position with regard to Ukraine, where Mr Trump has largely backed Mr Putin’s solutions for a territorial settlement.”
