Benjamin Netanyahu submits a request for pardon of corruption charges

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has submitted a request to the country’s president to pardon him of corruption charges.

Prime Minister Netanyahu has faced a long-standing corruption trial for charges including bribery and fraud.

He is the only sitting prime minister to stand trial in Israel’s history, and claims a pardon will promote reconciliation.
