‘A suicidal act’: Pedro Sanchez’s immigration policy gave the Ceuta invaders the ‘green light’
Spiked Chief Political Writer Brendan O’Neill believes Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez’s policy on illegal immigration acted as a “green light” for the invaders of Ceuta.
“I think his illegal immigration policy early this year was crazy; in fact I think it was a suicidal act by the Spanish state,” Mr O’Neill told News24 host Jaimee Rogers.
“He issued a royal decree, essentially offering residency to all the people who had come to Spain illegally, so these were people who just busted into Spain, had no right to be there, and he granted them the right to stay, the right to work, the right to healthcare, and the right to education.
“So he basically gave them fundamentally the same rights as Spanish citizens just with the flick of his pen.
“That acted as a green light then to other people to come and have a go.”
