Why the “Culture War” isn’t the final boss

Post-wokeness — what does it look like on the other side? For 10 to 12 years, people including myself have analyzed what’s wrong with media. I’m not debating what’s legitimate or who went too far. I’m asking what comes next.
The natural progression for people who do commentary and have a creative bone in their body is to start creating. Critics who became filmmakers. YouTubers who made their own material and found success. That’s the path. Commentary is a real skill — it’s why so many have blown up. But if you can create, building something is the next step. Otherwise we stay in this perpetual state of griping forever.
Supporters matter too. Being open to work that isn’t funneled through the mainstream channels is huge, because that’s the advantage the dinosaurs have — they control the IPs, so they get your attention even with low-effort output. There’s nothing wrong with niche. That’s where the world is going. You might not make a billion-dollar film, but it’s still worth doing.
Having a child changed my perspective. I want to leave nerd culture better than I found it — back to fun, where the heated arguments are about who’d win in a fight, not about what someone said about a group of people. That requires more creators creating and more supporters supporting. The world won’t move unless you move it. Get out there and go be great.
