Why Hating Is the Only Way to Win!
Somewhere along the way, saying a movie was bad stopped being an opinion and started being treated like a personal attack. Box-office numbers became arguments. Press tours became advertising. Disagreement became hate.
But nobody ever made better art by being told everything they do is brilliant. Criticism is the annoying bastard pointing at what failed and why. Replace that with marketing, box-office bragging and brand loyalty, and Hollywood doesn’t have to make better movies. It only has to sell you the next one.
From Star Wars, Marvel and DC to One Piece, Andor, The Last Jedi and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, reactions to major franchises have become tribal. If you don’t love the latest “product,” you’re dismissed as a hater. But what if audiences aren’t hoping for failure? What if they simply want good movies, good stories, good art and something they can actually enjoy?
This is about movie criticism, modern fandom, Hollywood marketing and what happens to art when everyone is told to shut up and like it.
