‘We got attacked’: Canada to match new US tariffs ‘dollar for dollar’ amid trade war

Canada and the United States are locked in a trade war after talks to seal a deal on new tariffs failed.

Canada’s Prime Minister Mark Carney says the US has “changed” and is preparing to match the new tariffs dollar for dollar.

“You’re at war when you get attacked; we got attacked,” he said.

“Canada will match Washington’s new tariffs dollar for dollar.”

This comes after the US slapped tariffs of 50 per cent on Canadian goods.

Now, Canada is hitting US goods with levies from September 8.
