US hits Iran-backed militias amid widening regional conflict in Middle East

Hostilities between the US and Iran have resumed after Tehran launched surprise attacks on American bases in the Middle East.

US Central Command says all incoming missiles were intercepted as US President Donald Trump ramps up the rhetoric towards the regime.

Former US Army vice chief of staff General Jack Keane says Iran may eventually return to the negotiating table, but warns the regime is still likely to use intimidation, coercion and attempts to control the Strait of Hormuz.

The United States and Saudi Arabia also struck Iran-backed Iraqi militias that have targeted US forces in the Saudis.
