US and Venezuela agree to resume diplomatic ties after Nicolás Maduro capture | BBC News
The US and Venezuela have agreed to re-establish diplomatic and consular relations.
Venezuela’s interim president, Delcy Rodriguez and US Interior Secretary Doug Burgum, who leads US President Donald Trump’s National Energy Dominance Council, met at the presidential palace in Caracas.
It was the second visit by a US secretary since the US strikes and seizure of Nicolás Maduro in January.
In a statement, the US State Department said that the two sides would make joint efforts to promote stability, support economic recovery and advance political reconciliation.
