Trump’s Iran response shows he is still hoping for a ceasefire to stay on the table

White House reporter for the Washington Examiner Christian Datoc says the United States’ retaliatory airstrikes were an “appropriate response” to the Iranian downing of an American military helicopter.

“What we have heard does not necessarily seem like the full-throated response that the United States could have taken,” he told Sky News Digital Presenter Gabriella Power.

“This is a tempered response from President Trump … he’s not abandoning the diplomatic process.”

He described it as a “scaled-back response” from Trump, indicating he is still hoping to keep the ceasefire on the table.
