Trump claims he will declare the Strait of Hormuz a US territory once Iran is defeated

President Donald Trump has announced he will declare the Strait of Hormuz a US territory after defeating Iran.

“After we finish defeating Iran … pretty soon I’ll be declaring the Hormuz Strait a territory of the United States,” he said.

This comes as President Trump has repeatedly said the US controls the Strait of Hormuz through America’s naval blockade of Iranian ports.

Iranian officials have hit back at US assertions that they’re in control of the critical waterway.
