Taiwan sounds air raid sirens in major drill as island prepares for feared Chinese invasion

Taiwan has sounded air raid sirens and launched nationwide war games simulating a Chinese invasion.

They have simulated assaults at sea, handling contamination by potential chemical weapons and scrambling fighter jets to face attackers in the sky.

Former prime minister Kevin Rudd has warned China could launch an assault imminently, perhaps as soon as 2028.
