Created and Directed by SAMUEL W. BRADLEY, the film came to life with an exceptional team of artists at GURU STUDIO. Accompanying the haunting visual aesthetic is a uniquely memorable score composed by JIM GUTHRIE. The film delivers an unexpected emotional experience for its audience by challenging their perspective and leaving them with questions to reflect back on after viewing.”
Filmmaker’s Statement:
The genesis of SPACE BETWEEN STARS traces back to my early love of indie comics and their dark, graphic style of storytelling, so different from the world of kids’ animation where I was working at the time. I became fascinated by how such an unconventional approach might translate into animation, and from that curiosity, a story began to take shape.
Soon after, while working at Guru Studio I was given the opportunity to pitch a short film concept and it felt like the stars had aligned. Once the project had been greenlit, I began storyboarding and designing in tandem, which evolved into a hybrid production model — painted 2D environments combined with 3D rendered characters. This approach created a distinctive graphic style that when paired with dynamic cinematography produced a strong sense of emotion. My hope is that this unexpected blend of style and story offers audiences a unique emotional experience.
