🎥 More About “Starfisher”:
In a forgotten stretch of deep space, Captain Thiago, an aging starfisher drifting toward obscurity, ekes out his final days aboard a rusted ship held together by outdated tech and decaying machinery. But when a long-lost comrade reaches out with news of a mythical deep-space creature — a catch worth more than anything Thiago’s ever hauled — he sees one last shot at meaning. With his body failing and his ship barely holding together, Thiago sets course for the impossible. Starfisher is a gritty sci-fi tale about legacy, sacrifice, and the quiet desperation to prove a life wasn’t wasted.

🎬 Director’s Statement:
I always make short films between developing my feature projects. This one came with absolutely no budget — right after I’d written The Outsider Filmmaker, a book about the mindset of low-budget filmmaking. Suddenly, I had to follow my own advice. Applying my momentum-driven strategies, I pushed forward and made the film.

Like all my sci-fi shorts, it’s also a proof-of-concept for a larger feature. But more than that, it was a test of process — a reminder that limitations can drive creativity and that story matters more than scale. The experience was humbling, energizing, and a reaffirmation of why I tell visually driven sci-fi stories: to connect with audiences, budget or no budget.
