Russia and Iran ‘cut from the same cloth’ as both try to ‘buy time’ from Donald Trump

Former White House Press secretary Sean Spicer says both the Iranians and Russians want to “buy time” from US President Donald Trump rather than ease tensions.

“I think that he would like a peaceful settlement … he prides himself on ending wars, and he’s less concerned with maybe the specifics and the terms,” Mr Spicer told Sky News host Andrew Bolt.

“I think Ukraine is on the backburner significantly between Venezuela, Iran, what’s going on here domestically, Ukraine is not popping up as an issue.

“I wonder if Russia is playing that game, which is slowly, kind of just, keep things going, wear the Ukrainians down, buy some more time, as I’ve maintained for a while, I think Iran and Russia are cut from the same cloth … they want to buy time.”
