Opposition fails to reveal target numbers for new immigration policy

Sky News host Steve Price questions the Coalition’s new immigration policy and the idea of “Australian values”.

“The new Opposition leader made the case for a drop in migrant numbers, but failing to put a number on that until closer to the election and a promise that will be hard to quantify, concentrate on bringing in people who will follow Australian values,” Mr Price said.

“Most of us would agree that is a great ambition, but the problem for the Opposition … what exactly in 2026 are those Australian values?

“It’s one thing to talk about the Australian notion of a fair go but how do you explain that exactly to a migrant from say China or even the countries the Opposition singled out today the UK the US and Japan and more broadly does the idea of a fair go even still exist today on our increasingly woke world where often your skin colour or sex means more than your commitment to an idea of patriotism”
