NSW Liberals vow to scrap gun buyback

The New South Wales Liberal Party is pledging to revoke a contentious gun buyback program announced by the Minns government.

NSW Opposition Leader Kellie Sloane will remove gun caps for farmers if her party wins next year’s state election.

That’s despite previously supporting the reform, prompted by the Bondi massacre.

The Liberals will instead focus on strengthening the firearms registry and laws around illegal guns.

Ms Sloane believes Labor is targeting the wrong people with its plan.
