Nerdrotic under attack, Team Grace Randolph on the WRONG side of history

The 2026 BAFTA Awards exploded into controversy when John Davidson, the Tourette’s syndrome activist and subject of the film “I Swear,” involuntarily shouted slurs during Michael B. Jordan and Delroy Lindo’s presentation. What followed was massive backlash, BBC apologies for not editing the broadcast, Hollywood outrage, and a heated online war—especially after film critic Grace Randolph doubled down on her initial hot take, spreading misinformation about Tourette’s, getting community noted, and even attacking Nerdrotic and his audience. As someone intimately familiar with both US and UK cultures, I break down why Grace Randolph (and many Americans) completely missed the transatlantic perspective. This video explores the clash of victim groups, sacred cows across cultures, and why the “harm” argument doesn’t translate universally.
