‘Much more stern than normal’: China’s President Xi Jinping raises Taiwan before pleasantries
Republican commentator John Deaton spoke on Chinese President Xi Jinping’s stern warning to the United States over support for Taiwan during talks with US President Donald Trump.
“China’s President did give a warning that if the United States supported Taiwan’s independence, it could cause huge conflict,” Mr Deaton told Sky News Australia.
“It would destabilise the relationship between the two countries.
“I thought President Xi was very stern, much more than normal, I mean, before President Trump really could even get into pleasantries, the Chinese President brought up Taiwan.”
