Marvel Zombies: The Real Reason It’s Changing Format

Marvel Zombies could be heading toward a completely different future, with three upcoming Halloween specials opening the door to new superheroes, supernatural threats, and potentially interconnected stories across the undead MCU.

Instead of announcing a conventional Marvel Zombies Season 2, Marvel’s outlined plans include Winter Soldier in 2027, Fist of Khonshu in 2028, and The Last Guardian in 2029. Each title raises questions about which characters might appear and how these stories could expand the animated universe.

Could Winter Soldier follow Bucky Barnes through the apocalypse? Does Fist of Khonshu suggest Moon Knight could bring supernatural forces into the fight? And could The Last Guardian eventually connect these separate adventures? Those possibilities remain theories, but the titles offer plenty of room for speculation.

Meanwhile, the Marvel Zombies Season 1 cliffhanger remains unresolved. Kamala Khan’s seemingly artificial reality and Wanda Maximoff’s mysterious plans could still shape the franchise’s future, assuming the new installments revisit those events.

Screen Rant examines the three Marvel Zombies specials, possible MCU character connections, and why an annual Halloween release strategy might be a smarter way to explore Marvel’s darkest alternate universe.
The question now is whether these stories are building toward one massive conclusion or three completely different nightmares.
