Independent publishers almost never make animation, and the reason is structural. A single episode costs hundreds of thousands of dollars, and studios only make it work through production committees that recoup on merchandise and licensing downstream.

We don’t have that structure. So we built a different one.

Today Rippaverse launched the Rippaverse Animated Universe. The audience funds the episodes directly, the ladder is public from the first dollar, and 82 cents of every dollar goes on screen. If the first goal isn’t reached, every contribution refunds automatically.

Four years in, this is the part I didn’t expect to be doing. Whether it’s one episode or five is decided entirely by the people who read the books.
