Is the ‘Right’ Too Reactionary?

Someone asked whether the right is too reactionary. Short answer, yes, and the context is most of the answer. Over the last ten years, commentary rose, and it was necessary: it told people they weren’t crazy. But it turned into an entire economy of reacting to what the mainstream does, with almost no buildout on the other side. That structure hands the advantage away permanently, because whoever holds the properties, the positions, and the release calendar decides what everybody talks about. Breitbart’s line was that politics is downstream from culture; most people treated it as a slogan instead of a strategy. This video is my harshest criticism of people I usually agree with, and I had to learn it myself: my work was never going to grow while I was preoccupied with the mainstream.
