Iran sends warning shot at ships using alternative route in Strait of Hormuz
University of Melbourne International Relations Professor Michael Wesley says Iran has struck a container vessel in the Strait of Hormuz as a warning to only use Iran’s route.
“There has been an alternative channel for shipping that has been opened up by the State of Oman, probably at the request and pressure of the United States,” Mr Wesley told Sky News Australia.
“This is clearly a power play by Iran and shows that Iran wants to maintain control of that waterway irrespective of what peace deal is reached in Switzerland.”
