IOC lifts Russian Olympic Committee suspension ahead of 2028 games

The International Olympic Committee has lifted its suspension on Russia ahead of the 2028 Los Angeles Games.

The ban had been in place since 2016 following doping offences and the invasion of Ukraine.

The IOC says athletes should not be punished for their government’s actions under its updated rules.

Russian athletes must still meet strict anti-doping testing requirements.
