The gameplay reveal is out and people are coming around in real time to the thing I’ve been saying for weeks: GTA 6 is going to be enormous, possibly the biggest entertainment event ever, and that was never in tension with the consumer argument. Two things can be true. If you believe a company is doing something unethical, don’t buy it, that’s still the answer and it’s the easiest thing in the world. But do not confuse your bubble for the market and start predicting a flop, because 4.5 million copies and $446 million in revenue were already booked before anyone saw a second of official gameplay. The leaks were never the dealbreaker. Most players aren’t perpetually online. And the launch isn’t even the whole story, because GTA Online is where the money actually lives.
