House Of The Dragon Season 3 Review: Game Of Thrones Learned Its Lesson
House of the Dragon Season 3 Fixes Its Biggest Problem as HBO’s Game of Thrones prequel returns with a faster pace, bigger battles, and a stronger focus on Rhaenyra Targaryen than ever before.
After watching the first four episodes of House of the Dragon Season 3, one thing becomes clear: the series is no longer holding back. The season opens with the long-awaited Battle of the Gullet, delivering one of the most ambitious action sequences in franchise history. From dragon warfare to large-scale naval combat, the conflict immediately pushes the Dance of the Dragons into a new phase.
Beyond the spectacle, Season 3 finally allows Emma D’Arcy’s Rhaenyra to take center stage. The character’s journey gains real momentum as the war escalates, while D’Arcy delivers some of the strongest dramatic work seen anywhere in the Game of Thrones universe. The result is a version of Rhaenyra that feels decisive, powerful, and fully realized.
Not every creative change from George R.R. Martin’s Fire & Blood works perfectly, and some adaptation choices remain controversial. Still, these episodes suggest HBO has listened to fan feedback about pacing, character progression, and storytelling priorities.
Here’s our full House of the Dragon Season 3 review, including the Battle of the Gullet, Rhaenyra’s evolution, and why the series may finally be proving that Game of Thrones can stick the landing.
