Historic castle captured as Israel pushes deeper into southern Lebanon

Israel has seized a strategic castle as part of its deepest incursion into Lebanon in more than 25 years.

From a military perspective, the site overlooks much of southern Lebanon, providing Israel with extensive visibility across the area.

The Crusader-era castle was previously captured by the Israeli military 44 years ago and remained under its control for 18 years.
