Absolute terror erupted at Silver Rail Elementary School in Bend, Oregon, after police received a report of someone firing into a vehicle outside the school. More 911 calls then came from inside. Officers arrived within minutes, and the attacker was shot and killed inside the building shortly afterward—but police had not yet determined whether an officer or bystander fired the fatal shot.
Authorities confirmed multiple victims, including children, with at least two people transported to a hospital. Their conditions and the complete casualty count were not immediately known. Police swept the school room by room while students and staff were evacuated to a family reunification site. This remains a rapidly developing investigation.
