Don’t engage….

Quick follow-up. After my video responding to Comics Explained saying he wouldn’t cover the Rippaverse — a video where I explicitly said he’s under no obligation to cover us and that this is simply to be expected — there are people online claiming I’m the reason he’s taking a break from YouTube. Let’s walk through why that’s impossible and what it actually reveals.
A few hours after my video went up, Comics Explained announced he’d be taking a break. He didn’t mention me once. Given the timing alone, it would have been impossible for my video to be the cause. In fact, he attributed the drama he’d been dealing with to another YouTuber — someone who, oddly enough, I actually debated back when I was primarily doing YouTube. I even defended Comics Explained in that situation.
Does the person making this claim know their statement is untrue? Probably. But it doesn’t matter. This is a signal. It’s aimed at people who won’t do any research of their own. It’s pure confirmation bias. These people work backwards — they start from the conclusion and reverse engineer the reasoning. You’re going to be whatever they need you to be in order for them to justify their nastiness.
This is exactly what I was talking about in the previous video. The delegitimization playbook doesn’t require accuracy. It requires a narrative. And the narrative will be constructed regardless of what you actually said or did. That’s why I don’t recommend spending a lot of effort trying to argue or present the truth to people like this. Truth isn’t what they’re interested in.
