Curate Your Feed or It Will Curate Your Mood
The world feels nihilistic because the feeds are nihilistic. That’s why it feels like everything is on fire, everything sucks, and there’s no optimism anywhere. But that’s not the real world. That’s what you’re being exposed to. And it’s very easy to fall down that trap without even realizing it.
Whether you’re a creator or a general scroller, you need to curate your feed. I’ve done the same thing with mine. Most of what I’m exposed to on various social media platforms is gaming related, fitness and workout stuff, and comics. That’s really it. Those are the two or three things that dominate my feeds. I am purposely ignorant on a lot of stuff that I just don’t care about, and that’s by design.
I treat it the same way I treat the Rippaverse. If the masses come to me, great. But I’m not going to chase the masses. If I’m doing a topic and it ends up trending, great. But I know there are going to be times when it doesn’t, and that’s fine. The same applies to your social media experience. You don’t have to engage with everything. You don’t have to be informed on every outrage cycle. You get to decide what you’re exposed to, and that decision directly impacts how you feel about the world around you.
The real world is not your feed. If everything feels hopeless and nihilistic, that’s a signal to change what you’re consuming, not a reflection of reality. Take control of it. Curate intentionally. Your mental state will thank you.
