Canada cutting immigration saw rents come down and building return

Crestview Strategy Partner Ginny Roth credits Canada’s rents coming down to immigration cuts.

“To be clear, in Canada, immigration has come down, and there are some areas where we’ve seen improvement, primarily rents,” Ms Roth told News24 host Chris Kenny.

“What we call purpose-built rentals, apartment buildings basically. Builders just weren’t building them for years in Canada, and now they’ve taken off.

“So, the supply of apartments is going up, and at the same time demand is down because immigration has come back under control.”
