Avatar: The Last Airbender Season 2 Review: Netflix Finally Gets It Right
Avatar Season 2 Review: Netflix Finally Gets It Right. After a divisive first season, Netflix’s Avatar: The Last Airbender returns with stronger storytelling, richer world-building, and some of the franchise’s best live-action performances.
This review explores why Season 2 feels far more confident while still struggling with one major issue: pacing. Thanks to a shortened episode order, several important storylines—including Aang’s Avatar State, Appa’s disappearance, Long Feng’s rise, and Jet’s emotional journey—never receive the development they deserve.
Even so, the series shines in nearly every other area. The production design is spectacular, bending action has never looked better, and Dallas Liu continues to steal every scene as Zuko. Newcomer Miya Cech also makes an immediate impression as Toph, delivering one of the most faithful live-action performances in the adaptation.
We’ll also examine how the show reimagines classic episodes like The Tales of Ba Sing Se, why most of the narrative changes actually strengthen the adaptation, and whether Netflix has finally found the right balance between honoring the animated series and telling its own version of the story.
Here’s our full review of Avatar: The Last Airbender Season 2.
