Australian hiker feared missing in Nepal disaster confirmed safe, 41 still unaccounted for

An Australian hiker has survived the Nepal disaster, making contact with her family back home.

26-year-old Cara Severino had been cut off while hiking the Himalayan Langtang trek.

Her parents told The Australian she had been attempting to reach Kathmandu on foot.

She is the first known Australian to have survived the disaster, as 41 others remain missing.
