Australia wary as Trump rallies nations to send warships to the Strait of Hormuz

Several countries are considering sending warships to the Strait of Hormuz after US President Donald Trump called for nations to help secure the key shipping route.

China, Japan, and South Korea are among some of the countries asked to help, whereas Australia has not yet received a request.

According to The Australian, the Albanese government is unlikely to offer support even if asked.

The UK says it is exploring options to help protect the vital waterway, including working alongside the United States.
