Austin Powers 4: Dr. Evil Could Steal Austin’s Movie
Austin Powers 4: Dr. Evil Is Taking Over, and Mike Myers’ latest comments suggest the long-awaited sequel could completely reinvent the franchise.
After nearly three decades since the original Austin Powers movie, Myers has revealed that the screenplay he’s developing is being told more from Dr. Evil’s perspective. But what does that mean for Austin Powers, Scott Evil, and the family twist that changed everything in Goldmember?
In this Screen Rant breakdown, we explore why a Dr. Evil-centered Austin Powers 4 could be exactly what the franchise needs. From the revelation that Austin and Dr. Evil are brothers to Scott Evil’s transformation into a full-fledged villain, the third movie already established a surprisingly compelling direction for a fourth installment.
We’ll also examine how Mike Myers could bring Dr. Evil into the modern world, why today’s tech companies provide perfect material for the franchise’s signature satire, and how the changing James Bond franchise could create an opportunity for Austin Powers to return.
Plus, we discuss the challenges of reviving a beloved comedy franchise, the legacy of Verne Troyer’s Mini-Me, and why repeating the original movies might be the biggest mistake.
Could Dr. Evil actually carry Austin Powers 4? And would making him the central character finally give this long-awaited sequel a reason to exist?
