‘Already underway’: Expert warns world is ill-prepared for AI displacing workers

Technology communications expert Dex Hunter-Torricke says there is “no doubt” workers will be displaced as AI continues to advance.

“It is already underway in particular sectors in many other industries,” Mr Hunter-Torricke told News24.

​“If we want graduates or young people or anyone else, for that matter, to have good-quality jobs 10 to 15 years from now, you would have to be putting in place a whole bunch of things right now in transforming our education system, reskilling workers to ensure that we get the success 10 to 15 years from now.

​“There’s no evidence we’re even having that mainstream conversation at the level we need.”
