I actually empathize with people who say we should talk more about what we enjoy and less about what we don’t, but it’s nuanced, and that distinction matters. Here’s what gets missed. Most people taking exception to modern entertainment are coming from the perspective of fans, longtime fans who spent thousands on these properties. They got mislabeled as haters to write off their opinions, and that’s what created this whole culture war. The projection is that the people calling them hateful are often the ones writing off alternatives they never gave a dime or a chance to. I’m with them on making it fun again. The problem is they don’t lead by example.
