‘About keeping Australians safe’: Jane Hume grilled on Coalition’s proposed terrorist lockout

Deputy Opposition Leader Jane Hume discusses the Opposition’s push to criminalise assisting supporters of terror groups return to Australia from overseas.

Under a crackdown being proposed by the Opposition, ISIS brides and terrorist sympathisers would be locked out of Australia.

Opposition Leader Angus Taylor is seeking to propose legislation that would penalise facilitators helping people re-enter the country with terror-related offences or from terror hotspots.

Under the plan, repatriation would only occur with permission from the Home Affairs or Foreign Affairs ministers.

Ms Hume said the reason why the Coalition will introduce this legislation is due to Labor’s failure to keep Australians safe.
