‘No surprise’: Young Aussies less willing to make personal sacrifices for national security

Sky News host Jaimee Rogers discusses the public sentiment on Australia’s defence spending in the face of potential national threats.

“A survey released by the Daily Telegraph asked If Australia were under serious threat, how willing would you be to make personal sacrifices to help protect the country?” Ms Rogers said.

“61 per cent of Gen Z said no, they are aged between 14-29, 64 per cent of Millennials also said no, that group aged 30-45 years.

“In fact, one in ten young Australians now believes we should be spending less on defence, compared to 79 per cent of Baby Boomers, those born in the years after the Second World War, who say we should be spending more. That is a significant divide.

“But are we really surprised?”
