Labor gets backlash after ‘quietly’ expanding GST to cover optional aged care living fees

Sky News host Steve Price reveals the front page story in The Australian on Friday which shows the Labor government “attacking older Australians in a cost of living crisis”.

The story had revelations that the government has quietly expanded the GST to cover optional aged care living fees, potentially raising $250 million annually.

Mr Price called these costs a “drop in the bucket for the federal government”.

“It does increase costs for elderly residents,” Mr Price said.

“There’s been no public consultation.”
