Melbourne’s long anticipated metro officially opens

Trains on Melbourne’s new metro have officially started but this morning’s peak period will be its first major test.

The line opened on Sunday with thousands of Melbournians inspecting the new stations as well as riding the line.

Public transport is free across the city on the weekends until February to coincide with the metro’s opening.
