Ukraine airdrops killer robots to take out 3,000 Russian troops in huge tech leap

Ukraine has revealed a battlefield first after using bomber drones to air-drop explosive ground robots deep behind Russian lines in Donetsk.

The tactic formed part of Operation Vivaldi, a months-long counteroffensive that Kyiv says reclaimed 48 square miles of territory.

Ukraine’s Third Army Corps says Russian forces suffered at least 3,000 casualties during the operation, though the figure is unverified.

Heavy bomber drones carried the four-wheeled kamikaze robots more than 10 kilometres behind enemy lines before releasing them to strike targets.

Ukraine claims the unit completed more than 15,700 missions as robots and drones increasingly took on jobs once reserved for frontline troops.
