‘We’re very much in rescue mode’: Fresh hope in Nepal after survivors rescued from tunnel

Australian rescuer and geologist Arnold Dix explains his work in aiding rescue efforts for those buried in tunnels in Nepal following the devastating flash floods.

“From day one, the government reached out to me for assistance, and they wanted me to come to Nepal,” he told News24.

“But I realised with the scale of all of this, my best use of time was actually sitting in my office in Monbulk trying to help work out where to dig to find these tunnels.

“That phase having ended, it was then time for me to come to Nepal now for the hands on the ground.

“The work continues; of course, time is against us, and we’re very much in rescue mode.”
