‘No ifs, no buts’: Overseas terrorism charged Australians must be prohibited from a passport

​Former NSW Police minister David Elliot says Australians charged with terrorist or treasonous wrongdoings must be “prohibited” from a passport to return home.

​“Given our international obligations to allow any citizen to return to Australia and the Labor government’s passionate commitment to those obligations, we now need tougher legislation that strictly prohibits the Department of Foreign Affairs from issuing a passport to any Australian citizen charged with terrorist or treasonous wrongdoings whilst overseas,” Mr Elliot told Sky News Australia.

“No ifs, no buts.
