I saw Mortal Kombat II – Did it it live up to hype?

Many were disappointed by the Mortal Kombat reboot from five years ago, and indeed, it took five years for the sequel to materialize – but now it’s here, and early word suggests it’s a huge improvement.
As we’ve seen many, many examples of in the past though, such early word is often carefully curated and not indicative of what the ultimate consensus will be – case in point, based on the early word and reviews alone, Marvel’s Eternals and Disney’s Snow White should both have been modern day classics by now, and clearly, that didn’t happen.
So what is the case here? Is the early word carefully curated, or indicative of reality?
