Iranians urge the US to step in against human rights abuses
Independent Women’s Forum Senior Fellow Qanta Ahmed warned of the increasing threat the Iranian Revolutionary Guard poses to the Iranian people.
“Sources from inside Iran are giving me a sense of what it is like for them,” Dr Ahmed told Sky News host Danica De Giorgio.
“They are holding their breath that this ceasefire actually translates into a truce; they find themselves absolutely crushed in between a space where they’re facing international warfare.
“Many Iranians want to see an end to the regime, but many Iranians are more staunchly affiliated with the regime, and the Iranian Revolutionary Guard has never been more strong.
“One of the major appeals of voices inside Iran … is for the United States to begin speaking and demanding reprieve from human rights abuses and calling for the protection of the Iranian people.”
