🎬 Director’s Statement:
I truly believe in what William Gibson said when he claimed that “The future’s already here, it’s just not evenly distributed.” AI replicas of deceased loved ones, apps that ride the line of legality popping up faster than the government can shut them down, and a world trending towards peak-capitalism all felt like aspects of a Cyberpunk story to me. But it wasn’t a story, this was happening in real life.
Being able to find such a connection felt like a calling to me, maybe similar to that glimpse of the future he had all those years ago. That’s the “Cyber” aspect of “Synapse”. Pulling off a short film about said things on just $2000 USD? Now that’s Punk.
