Iranian state media responds to US pilot rescue with contested shootdown claims

Iran’s Revolutionary Guard claims it shot down several US aircraft involved in the search for the missing American officer.

Iranian state media released a statement saying, “’By God’s grace, the American enemy aircraft that was searching for the downed fighter pilot was destroyed at the hands of the soldiers of Islam.”

Iran’s claims, which are yet to be independently verified, have been disputed by the US.
