The 2032 Brisbane Olympics operating budget is being reassessed as the reality of rising costs sets in.

$4.9 billion was allocated for expenses, including event day logistics, athlete transport and security, when Brisbane won its bid to host the games in 2021.

The Queensland government’s widely dispersed venue plan is largely to blame.

Operating costs are usually paid for the IOC, ticket sales and sponsorship deals.

Queensland Premier David Crisafulli says taxpayer money will not be used.
